Group Tours and Programs

1. School groups

Crowley education programs are experiential activities designed to engage all five senses. The natural spaces and cultural history excites the imagination by experiencing how pioneers lived, worked, and traveled in the 19th and early 20th century Florida. Our five distinct habitats are a plethora of sounds, smells, and eye catching fauna and flora.

Environmental Program - Interactive with staff

Students will visit the 5 habitats indigenous to the Crowley property; learn what flora and fauna are native to those habitats, and get an understanding of ecosystems, and the Myakka river watershed. They will learn about Florida’s original pine forests; what happened to the trees; and what we are doing to replace and/or save those forests today.

History Program - interactive with staff

Students will visit a pioneer cabin, blacksmith shop,” Cracker” homestead buildings, sugar cane mill, pioneer museum, and a 1906 country schoolhouse under restoration. They will learn the responsibilities of each pioneer family member; see original furnishings, artifacts, and learn what children did for fun. They will participate in a scavenger hunt to identify unique artifacts, grind coffee, and make butter.

Children's Discovery Path

A 3/8 mile long path with five discovery stations where you can stop and learn about animals, birds, and insects that are native or prevalent in southwest Florida. along this path, you will learn about eagles, bats, the gopher tortoise, spiders, and the Florida panther. Each station has a fun, hands-on activity where path explorers can jump, climb, see, and feel what it is like to be one of these creatures.
